Remember when the majority of us were in the womb in the early 90s? Me neither. Maybe we should have paid more attention, because 90s grunge is back. Bring out the ripped jeans, knee-high socks and wrinkly flannels. Here’s how you can pull this look off.
How to pull off the 90s grunge:
- Wear an oversized flannel over everything you wear. You will give off the vibe that you just got out of bed but the closest shirt to you happens to be grunge-chic.
- Go to a thrift store and buy things that you are positive will not fit you. When you get home, get a razor blade/knife and attack the clothing. Don’t worry about cutting the clothes uneven or messy. The sloppier, the more 90s grunge! Boyfriend jeans are fun to cut holes in and turn into shorts. Also, any band shirt can be torn up or turned into a crop top.
- The chunkier your shoes, the better. Wear combat boots and platform shoes with anything.
- Look like you don’t care. Embrace the punk rock aesthetic of the 90s by wearing shirts with sarcastic sayings or bold political statements to cancel out the seemingly effortless rips and tears in the rest of your outfit.
90s grunge is back. Visit some thrift stores and see what you can do to make your wardrobe grungier and hardcore. Embrace the style of the years you spent as either a toddler or in the womb!
