Every year, H&M blesses us with a new collection by collaborating with a major designer or brand. Last year, we got Balmain, and this year, it’s Kenzo. The collection hit stores on Thursday, creating long lines of excited shoppers with fold-out chairs.
It’s no surprise that people were anxiously awaiting to get their hands on the latest pieces. Within the last couple of months, H&M has released photo and video teasers, leaving faithful customers, who marked Nov. 3 on their calendars months in advance, more and more restless. We got a sneak peek of what to expect back in September when they released photos of seven celebrities—Iman, Rosario Dawson, Chance The Rapper, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Chloe Sevigny, Suboi and Xiuhtezcatl Martinez—rocking some of the clothing.
Now that the full collection is in stores and online, here’s what you here’s what you can expect:
– Graphics galore. Would Kenzo be Kenzo without showy, eye-catching graphics and patterns? (Hint: nope)
– A whole lot of animal print. This one shouldn’t come as any surprise. The collection comes to life with multicolored tiger and leopard print tops, outerwear, bottoms and accessories. If Mowgli from the Jungle Book had a psychedelic doppelganger, his closet would be filled with items from this collaboration, no doubt.
– Bright colors. Red, pink, blue and green dominate the merchandise. While some products have more subtle (or at least Kenzo’s definition of “subtle”) black and red or black and green patterns, others make a little more noise with all of the colors featured on a single piece.
– An expansive price range. The cheapest item is a pair of socks for $12.99 and the most expensive item is a dress for $549.
