Style Snapshot: Her Campus Mizzou Goes to the Grammys!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

I’ll be honest, collegiettes™, as much as I enjoyed Lady Gaga’s “egg-xuberant” new look at the Grammys, I really only turned on the TV for (less outrageous) celebrity fashion. Of course, fashion disaster is still a regular guest on the red carpet, but despite the bad and the ugly — Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj alert — the rest still managed to make my heart skip a beat. Before the buzz is completely gone, check out my picks of the night, the three major styles sported by celebs and a starter selection that you could incorporate in your wardrobe!

Style No. 1: All that glitters
In contrast to Kim’s over-revealing look, German supermodel Heidi Klum sure knows how to strive for a balance between elegance and seduction. The high slit, open back and shoulders all scream Goddess.

Style No. 2: Texture and height
While most of the celebs hit the red carpet in sparkly metallic gowns, the young Glee actress/singer looks divine in classy black ruffles and lace. With a little boost from the black platforms, Lea literally stood out from the crowd.

Style No. 3: Let them see light
Sporting the most refreshing look of the night, the Florence and the Machine singer pulled off one of this season’s biggest trends – sheerness – in this dreamy and subtly transparent couture. The best part of the look is the unexpected pop of flaming orange on the back of the dress and how that echoes her fierce red hair.

Who says your next Harpo’s appearance or formal can’t be worthy of Grammys-inspired style? Here are a few wardrobe pieces to bring these red carpet looks to your closet:
