Taylor and Travis: Everyones New Favorite Couple!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

It’s been 5 months since the reported split between pop star Taylor Swift and her long-term partner, Joe Alwyn. After breaking off her 6 year long relationship, Swift is back in the dating scene. Between her recent fling with singer Matty Healy to her current relations with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, fans are thrilled to see her bouncing back!

Swift was spotted in the skybox with Kelce’s mother Donna Kelce at the Sunday game between the Chiefs and the Chicago Bears. To say there was an uproar is an understatement. Between the Missouri and Kansas population, fans were ecstatic to see Swift back in their area. With Swift’s lucky number being 13 and this being her 13th public boyfriend, we are hoping this is “the 1” (get it?).

Swift took her Eras Tour to Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium this past July, headlining two sold-out shows. With 80,000 people attending the shows each night, it’s safe to say that her KC community is strong and filled with dedicated supporters.

When the images of Swift rocking a red and white Chief’s jacket as she watched her new guy on the field first surfaced, the internet was filled with excitement. Fans spoke out on Twitter, one saying that “if this sticks they will literally be the closest thing America has to a royal couple.” Even the NFL’s TikTok page has “Taylor was here” in their bio. Clearly, she left her mark on Arrowhead Stadium beyond her own performance!

Swift’s dating life has been speculated about for the entirety of her time in the spotlight. With her romantic relations being primarily with British stars, her relationship with Kelce is new, and clearly the world is excited to see it.

As one of Gen-Z’s most adored artists, fans have been able to break down many of her lyrics, associating them with different love interests of her past. “Mr. Perfectly Fine” is known for reflecting her relationship with Joe Jonas, and “All Too Well” is about Jake Gyllenhall. Though not all her muses are stated as clearly as “Dear John,” it’s evident that she gets inspiration from her love life.

Fans have joked around about the outcome of this relationship with Kelce, one tweeting, “Imagine the album we’d get out of this.” The two seem very happy together, so hopefully it’s a romantic album!

Kelce has spoken up about Taylor since the commotion on Sunday’s game. In an episode of his podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” Kelce expressed his appreciation for Swift’s attendance at his game.

“I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her — the friends and family,” Kelce said. She looked amazing and everybody was talking about her in great light.”

When asked about his future with Swift by his brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce, the 33 year old NFL star kept fairly quiet. “What’s real is that it is my personal life. I want to respect both of our lives.”

While respecting his privacy and hers, Kelce did drop hints at the way his life has recently changed due to the public eye spying on him and Swift. “My personal life that’s not so personal,” Kelce said. “I did this to myself Jason. I know this.”’

He called his life a roller coaster, in comparison to when he was known as only a football player, rather than also being a love interest of the worlds most adored pop star. “I noticed a few things,” Travis Kelce said. “Paparazzi at my house, [things] like that.”

The public is absolutely loving this new couple and the smile that Kelce leaves on Swift’s face up in that sky box. It’s safe to say we can expect some new “Lover” like music about the lovebirds!
