One of my favorite activities to do in Columbia is go crystal shopping with my friends. There’s just something so relaxing and inviting about walking around the shop and filling my basket with tons of stunning stones. Sitting down with my friends after I’m done shopping and going through my new finds is even more of a bonding experience and helps me get more acquainted with the crystals.
Crystals don’t just have to be for people who are well educated within the metaphysical realm either. In my own experience, owners of the stores are more than happy to educate you and answer any questions you might have. Doing research and having an idea of what you want to buy is helpful, but just going in blind and discovering things you might not have seen is just as rewarding.
Karma Care and Heart, Body & Soul are both metaphysical stores located in Columbia and make for a fun adventure with your friends or a solid way to spend an afternoon by yourself.
Karma Care: 1414 Rangeline St Suite B, Columbia, Mo 65201: 573-777-1615
Karma Care is located near the Business Loop in town and has a large selection of crystals, jewelry and other spiritual items. What makes Karma Care so unique is the owner’s two dogs that spend everyday in the store and the jars upon jars of crystals lining the tables. Not only is there a large selection of stones, but there are different size options and everything is very reasonably priced.
The shop is full of raw and tumbled crystals, and it’s guaranteed that there’s something in there for everyone. Some of my personal favorites that I’ve purchased lately are a one-pound piece of rose quartz, a small aventurine and a crystal cage to hang crystals in my car. You get a free crystal or incense stick with your purchase, and you’re guaranteed to spend a ton of time browsing.
Heart, Body & Soul: 1004 W Worley St, Columbia, Mo 65201: 573-777-6771
Heart, Body & Soul is an adorable shop just a few miles from downtown Columbia and has a large selection of sage, incense, crystals and tarot cards. The crystals are separated by color and each type of crystal has a short description about its purpose on the display. The majority of the stones in this location are tumbled as opposed to raw and something unique about the store is that they’re always burning incense to set the mood.
There is a large wall with tons of different bundles of sage and a display full of essential oils and other alternative forms of medicine. Upon purchase, you get a free stone and each crystal is put in it’s own bag with a sheet outlining characteristics and the purpose of that specific crystal.
If you’re looking for very low-priced crystals and a wide variety, Karma Care is the place to go! Although it’s a little further from campus, it’s worth the drive and you leave with a bag full of wonderful goodies. If you’re looking for more general spiritual items and jewelry, Heart, Body & Soul is the better option. Karma Care specializes more specifically in crystals, whereas Heart, Body & Soul has a wider range of inventory.
An easy way to begin educating yourself with crystals is to do a quick Google search or find some accounts on TikTok. There are plenty of small businesses on there that love to show their inventory while also educating their viewers. No matter how you want to start your journey with crystals, I highly recommend buying a few, even if it’s to bring in more positivity or serves as a cute decoration in your room!
