The MTV Movie Awards took place on April 9 and aired on April 10 on MTV! Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosted which was a perfect choice, since they are funny AF. The awards features categories and nominees chosen by the producers and executives at MTV. The general public is able to vote online for the winners. Movie of the Year went to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, unsurprisingly. The best ‘True Story’ went to “Straight Outta Compton”, while “Amy” won for the best ‘Documentary’ category. Best Male Performance went to Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and sultry starlet Charlize Theron for Best Female Performance. The show also featured two stunning performances from Ariana Grande, who channeled her inner Marilyn Monroe while singing her current single “Dangerous Woman” and Halsey who performed her new track “Castle,” currently featured in “The Huntsman: Winter’s War.”
Best Comedic Performance went to Ryan Reynolds for his role in “Deadpool” (Can we talk about how cute him and Blake Lively were?) and the Best Fight award went to Reynolds playing Deadpool vs. Ajax played by Ed Skrein. Chris Pratt took home Best Action Performance and Best Villain went to Adam Driver. The ever so funny, Amy Poehler, won Best Virtual performance. What can’t she do honestly? Everybody’s favorite girl, Jennifer Lawrence, won ‘Best Hero.’ You go JLaw!
The best ‘Ensemble Cast’ went to “Pitch Perfect 2.” In addition, Best Kiss was awarded to Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine from “Pitch Perfect 2.” There were many favorites in attendance who were presenters, such as: Gigi Hadid, Chris Hemsworth, Cara Delevingne (she slayed in a black jumpsuit), Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn and Jessica Chastain.
The red carpet fashion was beautiful, btw! Black was the color of the night for outfit slections! Kendall Jenner rocked a black dress with thigh high strappy stilettos. Gigi rocked blacked pants and a blazer while Jessica Chastain also looked stunning in a black gown. Lizzy Caplan and Rebel Wilson also chose to wear black frocks!
