It has been almost a year and a half since fans have heard any new music from the Las Vegas band The Cab. While the Lock Me Up EP was filled with great songs that followed the sounds from their sophomore record Symphony Soldier. it was a short EP that only left fans wanting a full length album. Shortly after the release of the EP, founding member and keyboardist Alex Marshall announced that he was leaving the band. While his departure was quietly mourned, fans still hoped that lead singer, Alex Deleon would be promoting new music, tour dates, or anything to satiate their thirst.
It has been nothing but radio silence on the band’s Twitter account regarding new music, tour dates, or even possible collaborations. No reassuring words to staunch the bleeding of fans as they silently mourn Alex Marshall leaving the band to pursue his own music — needless to say, fans were starting to lose their minds. However, on October 31 Alexander Deleon took to Instagram to announce his new side project called Bohnes.
In his Halloween post Deleon states, “There are 206 bones in the human body it si time that i take everything off and expose them. i am peeling back my ink-stained skin and letting everyone underneath into my core,. so today, on halloween, at 2:06 i am wishing myself a happy deathday. sometimes you have to kill who you used to be to become who were meant to be. welcome to Bohnes.”
While he celebrated his Halloween with a star studded crew (Adam Levine, Behati Prinsloo, and girl friend Josephine Skriver) fans were riddled with excitement of the new music news. Though fans are excited about his new side project, the lingering feeling that The Cab may be over is still hard to overcome.
Hopefully Bohnes is just the beginning and that this evolution of self will lead us into a new direction of The Cab. Bohnes debut single, “Guns and Roses” will be released November 13 and welcoming us all to count our 206 bones while on the darkside.
