It’s the final stretch before summer! Here are some tips and tricks to keep your day running strong from start to finish.
In The AM:
I am by no means a morning person, but I have been working on making my mornings run a little bit smoother and making them more enjoyable. Here’s what I have found helps:
#1: Try and wake up one hour before you need to. This will ensure that you are not running late or having to rush. Don’t start your day stressed out because you are having to rush to get out of the house. Give yourself some extra time to enjoy your morning, sip your coffee slowly, take some deep breaths and take a trip over to the window to start your day with a breath of fresh air and maybe a sunrise if you’re lucky.
#2: Make a great morning playlist to wake up to. I have a playlist on my Spotify that I like to put on in the morning. It’s full of great songs that I know will wake me up and inspire me to have a great day. It’s a great way to start the day on the right side of the bed in an upbeat mood.
#3: Start the day doing something you enjoy but often put at the bottom of your to-do list. This can be anything from reading that book you have been meaning to get but have been too busy reading textbooks, or free writing, or doing yoga, or whatever else that floats your boat. Instead of getting caught up in your busy day and not being able to squeeze these fun activities in at the end, just start with them from the very beginning.
#4: Turn your morning routine into a well-oiled machine. Create a great routine that works for you and then stick to it.This will ensure that everything gets done and you will not be left wondering if you left anything out or if you are forgetting something as you run out of the house to get to class on time. Have a routine that is functioning and allows you to accomplish what you need but is also enjoyable so you look forward to your mornings.
In The PM:
#1: Just like mornings, nights should also have a routine. One that is peaceful and relaxing and will help you unwind from your crazy day. Find your perfect night time flow and then stick with it every night until it becomes second nature.
#2: Prepare the night before in a way that makes you excited to get up in the morning. This could be anything from planning a cute outfit, to planning and great breakfast, or even just setting out your coffee mug the night before. It will be a lot easier to get out of bed in the morning if you are getting up to something exciting.
#3: Write about or reflect on one thing from the day that made you happy. On our busy days, we can sometimes get caught up and forget to appreciate all the good in the world. Take a second before going to sleep to remember what was good about your day and how it made you feel.
We are almost there – so close to summer vacation! You can do it; use these tricks to help you get there.
