When watching Jim Carrey’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” as a child, a lot of the humor in this cinematic masterpiece flew right over my head. As I grew older (and some may say more bitter and cynical), I began to pay more close attention to script of this Christmas classic and found that the Grinch is just your average ordinary human being, and he put into words some of the most things relatable things in life.
1. “Am I just eating because I’m bored?”

We can all relate to the regrettable foods we consume just out of sheer boredom. My first instinct when I have a moment of downtime is to waddle to the fridge and check it out, regardless of whether I just ate a full meal or not.
2. “If I can’t find something nice to wear, I’m not going!”

It’s difficult sometimes to find just the right thing to wear, and the Grinch worded this more perfectly than anyone ever could.
3. “I guess I could use a little social interaction.”
Whether you’re the life of a party or the type who has to be forced to attend events, social interaction is what brings us together, and you will be in better Christmas spirits after spending some time around others. Christmas is all about sharing the holiday spirit and spending time with people you don’t get to see on a regular basis.
4. “Hate. Hate. Hate. Double hate, Loathe ENTIRELY.”

Everyone has done this once or twice while paging through a high school yearbook or scrolling past “mutual” friend suggestions on facebook. There’s a reason why those people are in “suggestions” and not “friends.”
5.) “Blast this Christmas music! It’s joyful and triumphant.”
My college roommate has had Christmas Carols blaring since Thanksgiving, and I, for one, have had ENOUGH. Still, I kick myself in the butt when I catch myself singing along without thinking, and that begins the never-ending cycle of me despising the carols and then hating myself more for singing along to them.
6. “Even if I wanted to go, my schedule wouldn’t allow it!”

If your friends have ever thrown you for a loop and made you move around your ENTIRE schedule for their last-minute plans, then this is a quote for you.
7. “HELP ME – I’m FEELING”

Feelings are something everyone tries hard to keep buried, yet every now and again something happens that moves us to crack our cold exterior and show the heart within. We may not always know how to react to these newfound feelings, which is when it is socially acceptable to yell this Grinch quote at the top of your lungs
All in all, the Grinch is the most relatable Christmas movie I have ever seen, so if you haven’t seen it yet, go check it out! You will not be disappointed.
