Name: Beth Bishop
Hometown: Rapid City, South Dakota
Major: Senior Majoring in Communication Disorders
Her Campus: What are you studying and why?
BB: “I am graduating in May with a BS in communication disorders and going to grad school for speech language pathology this fall at MSU. When I started at MSU, I knew I wanted a profession where I could have the option to work in multiple settings and help a variety of people, and realized speech language pathology (SLP) was perfect! I have always loved working with kids, and enjoy learning more about language and literacy in my undergraduate research and how these areas play a big role in my future role as an SLP.
HC: Is there anything that you are passionate about?
BB: “I love teaching and helping others. I work as a college tutor in the subjects of English, Math, and Chemistry. I absolutely love my job and helping students become more independent learners.”
HC: What can you be found doing outside of school/weekends?
BB: “I love traveling to see my boyfriend at SDSU and spending time with my family and friends. My newest favorite thing to do is watching one tree hill on Netflix. I also enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine.”
HC: What are your plans for the summer?
BB: “I am looking forward to spending the summer with my family and friends in South Dakota. I can’t wait to be a nanny this summer, and spend my free time at the lake.”
HC: What is your dream job?
BB: “My goal right now is to find a position where I can grow and take on new challenges over time. Ultimately, I’d love to become a pediatric therapy SLP. I love working with kids, and in this setting you get to work with young children and variety of other therapists.”
HC: Where do you want to be in life 5 years from now?
BB: “My aspiration is to be working in a career I love, having started a family, owning our own house, and having a puppy!”
