Fellow Foodies, Listen up! I’ve got some creative, some may call strange, even cringy, food combinations coming your way that are worth the attention, and the (taste) test! Before you go making a face or dismissing these unique concoctions- give them a shot, first! You may be pleasantly surprised by some of these unique eats- and even find inspiration for some smack worthy snacks of your own.

  1. French Fries and Ice Cream

Don’t worry, I’m starting safe- I know I’m not the only sucker for sweet and salty food. The cool creamy sweetness mixed with a salty warm french fry is sure to keep your dipping and munching happily!

     2. Pretzels and Nutella

Again, with the rich chocolate offset by the crunchy and salty texture- you can’t stop once you start!

     3. Cottage Cheese and Cocoa Powder

It literally tastes like chocolate mousse, and it’s addicting. I feel like I could never go back to savory cottage cheese again- except with salsa. You can also never go wrong with salsa.

     4. Pickles and Mustard

Your favorite pickles, your favorite mustard.. What else could you want? This may also just be a tell to my sodium addiction. Top these bad boys with plain cottage cheese and you’re golden.

     5. Sweet Potatoes and Peanut Butter

Trying a sweet combo to compliment its name- *sweet* potatoes don’t have to just be saved for that casserole on Thanksgiving, add some peanut butter (let it get melty), your favorite berries, a creamy aspect like yogurt, tons of cinnamon, and you’ve got yourself a delicious bowl of warm steamy sweet potato goodness.

     6. Eggs and Peanut Butter

Okay, so I’m admitting to a slight peanut butter addiction. Next time you’re making an omelette but also feeling frisky, add some extra egg whites, stevia, cinnamon, and top it with some peanut butter to make a sweet twist on this classic dish. Pair it with bacon and you’ve got your salty fix, too!

     7. Pumpkin Puree and Greek Yogurt

Who am I kidding, though? I’ll add pumpkin to basically everything- I’m not even sorry. You can even mix in cocoa powder to this one for a yummy healthified treat!

     8. Riced Cauliflower in Oatmeal

This sounds weird, but you can vamp up your breakfast with some veggies rather painlessly! You don’t taste it at all and it cooks right into the oatmeal to make it super voluminous! Who doesn’t love more food for a fraction of the calories?

     9. Applesauce in Meat

Unless you’re a toddler, you may have ruled out applesauce from your palate all together, but hear me out! Cooking your ground turkey or beef with a little applesauce and seasoning makes the most moist, delicious meat ever!

     10.  Doritos and Sloppy Joe Meat

The artificial cheesy crunch of the chips topped with a saucy, sweet pile of joe is nothing to mess around with!

      11. Popcorn Seasoning on Veggies

This one  is a game changer. If you’re the kind of person who is anti anything green and you’re looking for a way to eat more veggies without hating every second, I recommend buying the Nacho Cheddar, Ranch, or Bacon Cheddar popcorn seasonings and adding it to the next batch of green beans or broccoli you attempt- it’s a whole different ball game now!

Maybe now, your brain is turning (or churning) with ideas for your next out of the box snack or dinner idea- or maybe you’re just weirded out! Either way, there’s nothing wrong with going against the grain and finding that strange combo- and hey, maybe then your roommates won’t be stealing your food!
