Love Your Melon was started in a classroom at St. Thomas University in Minnesota when a couple friends decided they wanted to improve the lives of children battling cancer. Their goal in 2012 was to put a hat on all children battling cancer in America. The first hats they made sold out in the first weekend. In 2014 they went on two tours to spread share their story.
Since beginning, Love Your Melon has given more than 45,000 hats to children through their buy one, give one program. For every hat purchased, one is given to a child with cancer. The hats are always donated to the children in person and they have college students throughout the country that help with this.
These students are Love Your Melon Ambassadors who are in charge of sharing the mission throughout their city. There are more than 2,500 students at 225 different schools that are ambassadors.

With Love Your Melon’s new partnership with CureSearch and The Pinky Swear Foundation, ambassadors work directly with these organizations to fight cancer.
Since starting, Love Your Melon has succeeded in achieving their goal of putting a hat on all children battling cancer in America. The partnership with The Pinky Swear Foundation allows them to show support to children battling cancer. CureSearch helps to fund research to cure cancer.
Love Your Melon has a new mission now; 50 percent of all hats sold will be donated to The Pinky Swear Foundation and CureSearch. They will continue to provide hats to the newly diagnosed children every year.
