5 Emotions All Seniors Go Through

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Molloy chapter.

Senior year is coming to a close. With less than two months until school is over, seniors at Molloy are coming to terms with a lot of feelings.

1. Worry

You’ve spent the last four years of your life on one small campus, now you’re venturing out into the big world. Molloy is a small community, so it’s a great place to make friends and not have to worry about an overwhelming number of people rushing around you. Seniors are moving on to all different places: maybe you’re worried about making new friends; even more worried about keeping the ones you have now! Just remember that this feeling is common. All of the new people at your job are worried about fitting-in, and all of those who have been there were once in your shoes.

2. Fear

College is a special time when a lot of people find themselves. You are able to embrace your personality, try new things, and experiment with your identity. Soon, you’ll be moving on to a whole different place, you may be fearful if your future coworkers will accept you. The most important thing is to stay true to yourself. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people by sharing your interests, maybe love eating in new places or you’re a Netflix-expert and know all of the great shows. Your coworkers will appreciate you for your personality, it will help you stand out!

3. Exhaustion

Every time you go to class, you feel less and less motivated. Haven’t you sat in classrooms for long enough? The finish line and that diploma are waiting for you- but, first you have to finish a 20-page paper, a presentation, and study for all 5 (or more for the unlucky) of your exams. Even though you’re thisclose to finishing up, you need to remain motivated! You’ll regret bombing that presentation or not handing in that paper when your final GPA falls down. It’s tough, but you can do it!

4. Nostalgia

In years past, you groaned at the idea of having to pay for food on campus or maybe you’ve rushed home right after class to reunite with your bed instead of hanging out with friends. Now as you walk around campus, you’re hyper-nostalgic for things you never thought you enjoyed so much, saying that you’ll miss everything from friends to studying until 2AM in Public Square. Luckily, there is still a lot of time and events left at Molloy for you to cram all your senior memories in. If events aren’t your thing, maybe take that extra step and hang out with your friends on campus instead of rushing home.

5. Hope

Even though leaving your “home” at Molloy seems like a scary thought, remember that when you left high school, college seemed like an overwhelming experience, too. Your years at Molloy have prepared you by showing you the power of a small community and finding who you are. Seniors, don’t get down-and-out now! Enjoy the last weeks of your final semester and embrace the new life you are about to lead!

Toni is feverishly passionate about representing Molloy College with Her Campus and is overly excited every time her staff has a meeting.  Her goals are to bring happiness to others with her writing and eat chocolate on every continent.
