What do you do on campus? “I am involved in many different activities on the Molloy campus, including singing and acting with the Molloy Performing Arts Club (MPAC), writing and hosting the Sports segment of MolloyLife Mediaâs weekly webseries âNews Nowâ, and I play on both the Soccer and Lacrosse teams, and I am also a Communications student so you can usually catch me doing papers in the media lab or helping out with some productions around Molloy!”
What positions do you play? “I played 4 years on the Womenâs Lacrosse Team as an attacker and now I am a goalkeeper on the Womenâs Soccer Team.”
Â
What made you come to Molloy for sports? “Haha thatâs a long story: I actually went to Sacred Heart University in Connecticut and then transferred to Molloy after my first semester, so I wasnât recruited for sports straight out of high school. I was brave enough to send my coaches e-mails saying I wanted to play and was given a try-out and happened to make both teams⊠I couldnât be happier!”
Â
Do you play sports? “Yes⊠too many of them to count haha.”
Â
Do you have a favorite sport to play? “I actually happen to love both soccer and lacrosse and have been blessed with the opportunity to play them at the collegiate level. But I have to say: since Iâve been playing it on-and-off my entire life, Soccer has always been my first love.”
Â
What gets you pumped up for a game? “There are so many things that motivate me before a big game, and it all starts as soon as I get to the locker room and tape myself up while
listening to some motivational speeches. After that comes the teamâs locker room ritual, which normally gets all of us pumped up and our minds in the zone before heading over. Finally, Iâll tune everything else out and get into my own zone by putting on headphones and listening to pump up music before walking out onto the field.”
Â
What or who motivates you to play your best? “Honestly my biggest inspiration happens to be my familyâwhether it be my mother, my grandmother, my late father or my aunts and unclesâI always remember what theyâve sacrificed for me throughout my entire life, and I try to play for them and learn from their teachings by sacrificing for my second family on the field: my teammates.”
Â
What’s the best motivational quote you’ve heard? “There are so many, but Iâve gotta go with this shorter one from motivational speaker Les Brown: âWhen life knocks you down, try and land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up.â”
Â
What is your job at CitiField? “I am a Fan Greeter at CitiFieldâbasically I am affiliated with Guest Services and required to enthusiastically greet fans at games, direct them towards ballpark attractions (Shake Shack is a huge hit), help answer any questions that fans may have about daily promotions, and assist handicapped fans to and from their seats before and after games. It sounds like a lot but itâs not that bad!”
Â
How’d you get the job there? “My friend, Kristen worked there for a year and she happened to recommend me to her boss because they were hiring a brand new staff, and before you know it I was in that interview room shaking from nerves!”
Â
What’s the best part about working at CitiField? “Honestly the best part about working at CitiField is that itâs such a positive environment. I grew up in Queens so I already have a feel for the surrounding area and since most of the fans are from that borough, I can definitely relate to them and know how to say a friendly âHey, how are ya doinâ today?â Everyone at the ballpark always perks you up with their energy and beams smiles, and they are always willing to go out of their way to help people. Being surrounded with those types of people definitely brings out the best in you and makes for a worthwhile experience for both employees and fans alike.”
Â
Do you have a favorite sport to play? “I actually happen to love both soccer and lacrosse and have been blessed with the opportunity to play them at the collegiate level. But I have to say: since Iâve been playing it on-and-off my entire life, Soccer has always been my first love.”
Â
What do you do for fun when you don’t work or go to classes? “Whenever Iâm not at work or going to class, I actually enjoy random trips into Manhattan, staying in shape by going to CrossFit, singing and a secret hobby of mine is dabbling on the piano. Unfortunately, I canât read music, but I love learning and playing songs by ear!”
