Life as a college student, as we all know, is TOUGH to say the least. So after a long day of classes, homework, and dealing with whatever else is going on in our crazy lives, we’re  blessed to have a social media platform called Twitter to wind down on and enjoy some hilarious and relatable memes to ease our stress, bring a smile on our face, and especially share to our friends to spread the laughs.
To wrap up this wild year, I’ve compiled just ten (in no particular order) of some laughable, relatable, or sometimes just plain odd but trendy memes and viral videos of our memorable 2018!
1. To start  out, we have our classic “Spongebob out of breath” meme who can conveniently relate to our lack of motivation in our lives.
2. Then we have the Spongebob meme’s scary cousin “Evil Patrick” to portray our guilty tendencies that but what we all know are true.
3. Here we have, our lovely (but obviously edited) Kim Kardashian being a total example of a mood
4. One of the most viral videos this year is, of course, the endearing Walmart yodeling boy! His chords and the trending video got him numerous DJs to remix his singing, an opportunity to record a real song, and to even perform at 2018’s Coachella!
5. I think that this was one of the odder memes that Twitter decided to create! But alas, here is a representation of a moth’s obsession with lamps.
6. Drake’s legendary “In My Feelings” song started a movement of everyone around the world getting out their cars and dancing their heart out to the song of the summer. With the hashtag #InMyFeelingsChallenge everyone shared their moves including K-pop band BTS’s main dancer J-Hope! (In fact, his post on Twitter became the highest retweeted tweet in 2018 with over 860 thousand RTs!)
7. One word. Gorl. Gru, from the Despicable Me movies, has an accent that brings him to pronounce the word “girl” as “gorl,” so why not make it into a meme. This is just one of the many, MANY song lyric replacements out there.
8. You’re reading an article about memes rather than studying for finals? Weird flex, but ok. (But we TOTALLY understand, we would too).
9. What started as a simple tweet made by a fan of the K-pop band Seventeen about how one of the member’s Mingyu had a total glow up, it became an ongoing and sometimes even laughable presentation of before and after pictures.
10. Last but certainly not least, Ariana is making us want to call out the exes we didn’t even have, with her bold name-dropping anthem about how she’s totally over her exes and she’s ready for someone who will treat her how she deserves. SAY IT WITH ME: thank u next!
WIG! You made it to the end of the list, but also the ending of 2018. (This is so sad, Alexa play despacito). May your 2019 be happy, healthy, and full of memes!
