The Best Moments of the 2018 Grammy Awards

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards has the world talking about its amazing performances, political acceptance speeches, and of course the killer fashion on the red carpet. With the aftermath of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, there were many instances where emotions ran high and artists showed their strength in numbers. This year’s Grammys was definitely one to remember and for anyone who unfortunately missed such a great show, here are a few of the best moments from Sunday night’s event!

Kendrick Lamar’s A.M.A.Z.I.N.G Opener

Kendrick brought down the house with his performance of his songs “DNA” and “XXX”. Accompanied by backup dancers dressed in ski masks and also appearances by comedian Dave Chappelle and the band U2, Kendrick left the audience in awe with a mind-blowing performance.

Blue Ivy Carter Steals the Entire Show

The first family of music sat front row at this year’s Grammy Awards (as they should) and while some people were a little upset neither Jay-Z or Queen B took home yet another Grammy award, one of the best parts of the show was little Blue Ivy telling her parents to calm down. I guess even Beyonce and Jay-Z can be a little embarrassing from time to time.

Kesha’s Powerful and Heartfelt Performance

Alongside influential women within the music industry such as Cyndi Lauper, Andra Day, Camilla Cabello, Bebe Rexha, and Julia Michaels – Kesha delivered the most heartfelt performance of her career. You could feel the emotions running through your television screen as this ballad brought a whole new meaning to facing your fears and standing up to those who have brought you down.

Sza SLAYS Her First Grammy Performance

2018 has been the year for the new and upcoming artist Sza. With her hits “Love Galore” and “The Weekend”, it was no surprise that Sza was nominated for five Grammys. Last night she performed her song “Broken Clocks” and the audience swayed back and forth as Sza’s soulful voice filled Madison Square Garden.

Consolation Puppies

What better way to enjoy an award show than getting to play with adorable puppies? Host, James Corden, did not want anyone to feel left out during last night’s Grammy Awards so he decided to give out “consolation puppies” so no one to leave the show empty handed!

Bruno Mars Wins Album of the Year

To end such a great show, Bruno Mars brings in his 6th Grammy Award win of the night by receiving Album of the Year. Beating out Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar, Bruno takes home the Grammy for his 24K Magic Album.
