HCM: How did you get involved with doing the tours around campus?

CS: Over the summer I received e-mail about the ambassador program here at Montclair state. I soon applied for the position and got accepted!

 

HCM: What does your job consist of?

CS: My job consist of office work such as answering phones, making phone calls and of course tons of paper work. I also give the tours around campus both in groups and personal groups, while giving the tours I am required to answer any questions about the university.

 

HCM: What is most rewarding about this job? 

CS: The most rewarding thing about this job is knowing your helping future college students decide where they want to go and also meeting new people.

 

HCM: How do you balance schoolwork, a social life and this? 

CS: Sometimes it’s tough to balance all three of these things, especially with the classes that involve my major. However, I’m used to b balancing my schedule (this is second nature to me now), in high school I had a job as well. 

 

HCM: What qualities must one posse in order to excel in this job?

CS: The qualities that are most important for this job are: social skills, outgoing, and patient, caring, able to handle people and a general knowledge of MSU.

 

HCM: What benefits do you receive from doing this?

CS: I get paid for this job. I work twice a week doing paper work and giving tours and a few times out of the month I do group tours. I really enjoyed meeting the employees and everyone was friendly and welcoming especially being a freshman.
