Christmas is one of the happiest times of the year! Kids are off from school, families are joined together, and of course, Santa Claus comes to town and gives us gifts. One tradition that helps us get in the spirit of Christmas is watching Christmas movies. There is so much nostalgia around Christmas movies that brings joy to us. Grab your favorite blanket and a cup of hot chocolate, here’s a list of some classic Christmas movies!
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965):
All of the Charlie Brown specials have a little place in our hearts. Generations including our parents grew up watching this classic Christmas movie. In this flick, depressed Charlie Brown wants to find the true meaning of Christmas without the commercialism. With the help of his friends, Charlie realizes Christmas is about being with loved ones. Watch Charlie Brown get an extremely small tree and direct the Christmas pageant with his friends this Christmas!
A Year Without A Santa Claus (1974):
The North Pole is in a crisis when Santa Claus gets a very bad cold, possibly canceling Christmas. Therefore, Mrs. Claus is on a mission to find someone to help save Christmas. With special appearances from The Miser Brothers to Mother Nature, “A Year Without Santa Claus” is a generational classic Christmas movie to watch with friends and family.Â
Elf (2003):Â
Buddy the Elf was born a human but grew up in The North Pole working as one of Santa’s elves. When he realizes he’s different than the other elves, Buddy sets himself out on a mission to New York City to finally meet his birth father. Elf is such a lovable character and movie that everyone enjoys watching around the holidays. Grab your candy flavored spaghetti in time to watch Buddy this holiday season!
Frosty The Snowman (1969):
Frosty comes to life thanks to a schoolgirl in search of The North Pole before he melts away. With the help of the children in the town, Frosty and the kids go on a sing-along adventure while escaping the evil magician who’s trying to snatch Frosty’s magic hat. Sing along with Frosty and friends before Christmas is over!
Home Alone (1990):Â
Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister finds out his family left him home alone while on their Paris Christmas vacation. While being at home, he battles two burglars with booby traps all throughout the house, waiting for his family’s arrival. With holiday cheer and Kevin’s iconic screams, this is a fan favorite this time of year!
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000):Â
The Grinch is an angry, annoyed citizen from the happy town of Whoville. The town of Whoville is full of Christmas-loving Whos willing go to extreme amounts to celebrate. With that being said, The Grinch comes up with an evil plan to stop Christmas from coming this holiday season. After stealing presents from multiple houses, little Cindy Lou Who helps him realize the true meaning of Christmas. Hold onto your gifts and watch “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” this Christmastime!
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989):
Clark Griswold and the gang are back for another funny Lampoon film with a Christmas twist. This holiday season, the Griswold’s host the holidays with all the crazy in-laws and weird cousins at the house. With funny characters like Eddie, Aunt Bethany, and of course, Clark Griswold, this National Lampoon’s movie adds a hilarious twist to Christmas. Learning from this film, it’s safe to say that we always check our Christmas trees for squirrels now. Don’t miss out on the Griswold Family Christmas this season!
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964):
In his town, Rudolph is anything but ordinary. Sick of being made fun of for his looks, he sets out on an adventure with an outcast elf, Hermey, to the Island of Misfit Toys. Rudolph decides to help them out by going back to The North Pole with the toys to give to Santa to send out. Santa realizes the gift that Rudolph has been given which goes back to the original tale of Rudolph. Check out Rudolph and his friends this holiday!
The Polar Express (2004):
A little boy embarks on an adventure traveling to The North Pole through a magical train, The Polar Express. With hot chocolate served all around, meeting new friends and seeing the infamous Santa Claus, the little boy realizes that he does believe in the Christmas spirit. The Santa Clause (1994):Â
After a rooftop mishap, Santa Claus falls off the roof of a house and disintegrates. Scott Calvin finds the figure and puts on the red coat, getting the opportunity of a lifetime becoming the next Santa Claus. Navigating his new life, he goes to The North Pole trying to figure out his new role in society.
