Playlists are the keepers of my sanity. As October approaches, hopefully, you have found a routine that allows you to keep all the resolutions you made for the fall semester. If not, I will tell you how I stay motivated and make it to class on time (usually). I use playlists as timers and motivators. Music keeps the pep in my step and allows me to reset so one part of my day doesn’t contaminate the other parts.
Getting Ready in the Morning
After you’ve finally gotten out of bed, use a playlist that’s approximately as long as how long you have to get ready. When no more songs play, you know it’s time to go.Â
How Will I Know – Whitney Houston
The Less I Know the Better – Tame Impala
Life’s About To Get Good – Shania Twain
You Can’t Stop the Beat – Hairspray
Let’s Dance to Joy Division – The Wombats
FAB. – JoJo
Ezy Rider – Jimi Hendrix
You Will Be Found – Dear Evan Hansen Soundtrack
Work Out
The hardest part of going to the gym is getting there. Once you’re there, it’s easier to stay motivated. When it comes to the daunting part of your workout like cardio or abs, a podcast might be more useful in helping you lose track of how much time you have left.Â

When You Study
Studying has the word “dying” in it for a reason. What I do is play an hour length of songs or a full album, and I don’t let myself get up from studying or go on social media until all the songs have played once.Â

She Said – Sundara Karma
