The final episode of Fashion Police aired in November, but this does not mean that it is time to stop reviewing all the hottest (and not so hot) red carpet looks! As a fashion student, nothing makes me happier than analyzing all the red carpet looks. While some celebs brought their best outfits to the 2018 Grammy Awards, some looked like they could have used some serious styling… let’s take a look at some looks!

Rita Ora

Why not start out with one of the most elegant styles of the night? She brought that classy, old-school glam with her dramatic makeup, flowing golden hair, and beautiful black dress. You can never go wrong with a one-shouldered black dress, but I don’t think anyone else could slay this look like Rita. Yes, maybe the slit could have been just a tiny bit lower, but this look is fabulous from top to bottom.

Hailee Steinfeld

Known for her youthful, fun, and bold fashion Hailee rarely ever disappoints… so what happened here? Her strapless, fitted plain white dress gives off a nice but rather plain vibe… almost that of a simple wedding dress. And the boots are just far too casual for the Grammy’s, or really any red carpet. They do not match the elegant simplicity of dress and hair. Also, why so much blue eyeshadow? It takes away from her pretty brown eyes and clashes those purple boots. If the dress were purple, and the shoes were white heels or even booties, this could have been one of the best looks of the night. She is still one of the most fashionable young stars out there, but this one just does not come together.

Cardi B

Cardi B dominated this year with her awesome looks and badass attitude… so this look is a huge surprise and not necessarily a pleasant one. This poofy Ashi Studio dress does not hold up to my expectations for Cardi. The mesh cleavage, flappy sleeves, and light off-white/grey-ish dull color with lavender tones is a lot to take in and does not show off her shape or personality. The messy updo seems to clash with the formality of the dress and accessories, but at least her makeup looks amazing! Yes, of course, she normally makes good career moves, but this dress is not one of them.

Miley Cyrus

Miley has had a wide variety of looks over the years, but this has to be one of her best. Miley is back. The black jumpsuit is fun, edgy, and fits her frame beautifully. Her flowy hair and subtle yet feminine makeup softens up the look, while her glittery block heels add just enough sparkle!

Trends of the Night

1. Suits, suits, suits. Lots of ladies chose to challenge traditional gowns with pantsuits. Janelle Monae, Anna Kendrick, and Cindy Lauper were a few celebs who hopped on board with this modern trend. Although it is very bold to break the mold, this kind of style just is not for everyone, and I must confess that I did not think any suits competed with any of the dresses seen on the red carpet.

2. Dresses that just don’t seem to fit right. Though not a trend, a surprisingly abundant number of dresses just didn’t seem to fit quite right. From Bebe Rexha’s dangerously tight-fitting La Perla corset-style gown to Camilla Cabello’s awkward “boob” moment, there were definitely a few beautiful gowns that could have used just a bit more tailoring.

HCM Fashion Police Awards!

Best Dressed: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga steals the show in this stunning Armani Privé gown. The black lace top gives off a sophisticated, beautiful, and dramatic old-school vibe, and the heavy black bottom half with the sexy slit makes the outfit perfect. Her long earrings, intense eye makeup, and tied-up hair compliment the look perfectly. Amazing!

Worst Dressed: Pink

Pink is a wonderful artist and so pretty, but this dress just does not work. The feathers do not hang right, the colors do not blend well, and it does not fit right at all… her gorgeous shape is completely lost in the poofy feathers.

Honorary Award: Maren Morris

Every episode ends with at least one special award! The award is… Most on-trend! And it goes to Maren Morris! In her Julien Macdonald gown, she rocks the cold-shoulders, keyhole cutouts, cropped hair, and sheer bottom all in one look!
