If your “FYP” page has been filled with people taking videos on the train or public transit in the 0.5 lens to a catchy song, it is because of the internet sensation notably known as the “Tube Girl” Sabrina Bahsoon. She has taken over our screens and has encouraged many to do the same as a way to boost their confidence. Although many have taken on the challenge head on, if you are not ready for such a grand challenge, here are three ways you can boost your confidence.

  1. Affirmations

We have all seen talk online about affirmations, and although you may be apprehensive about how simply saying a few words can change your perspective, give it a try! How you think and speak about yourself will have the greatest impact on your self confidence. In the morning when getting ready, start your day off right by saying in the mirror “I will have a good day,” “I am thankful for this day,”or “I will be kind to myself today.”

  1. Take yourself out on a date

When you see someone eating by themselves or going out alone you do not think negatively of that person. If anything, you should initially think how independent they are. Therefore there is nothing wrong with challenging yourself to do the same. Here are a few examples of how you can take yourself out. Start by planning to go to places to eat by yourself or merely go shopping by yourself. These things are less intimidating and more appealing. Personally, taking myself out to go to Barnes and Nobles, or trying out Group Yoga classes at Montclair provided by the rec allow me to have that alone time I need with the ability to be comfortable with myself.

  1. Try a new hobby

If the thought of starting a new hobby usually steers you away, I’m here to inform you that you are not expected to pick up intense activities like running or rock climbing to discover more about yourself. Simply reconnecting with hobbies that were once lost provide you with a new perspective. Although it may seem minuscule, coloring can always be something you revisit. Furthermore buying a digital camera off of eBay, may unlock your photography skills.

Channeling your inner “Tube Girl” is just another way of being kinder to yourself! Hopefully, these tips can help you reach your goal.
