While only a few days left of Paris Fashion Week remain, fashion month is coming to an end. With that being said, Balmain just showcased their S/S19 collection. Over the years, some of the iconic pieces from the Parisian fashion house include structured blazers and short embellished dresses. Creative director Olivier Rousteing is known for dressing celebrities such as the Kardashians/Jenners clan, Beyonce and Gigi Hadid. He is also known for having a “Balmain army” of models to reveal his newest collections.
This season Rousteing has showcased another outstanding collection with Cara Delevingne opening and closing the show. This is the first time I have seen Delevingne walk for a designer after deciding to leave the modeling industry in order to pursue acting. This collection is by far one of my favorites from PFW because the entire collection was cohesive with a black and white theme with hints of pastels, structure and detail. It ranged from different fabrics such as tweed and satin to prints and embellishments with an Ancient Egyptian feel.
Their accessories were also cohesive from small rounded handbags to big clear bangles. I loved how classic and feminine each model looked with every design. The models walking down the runway made a statement and no one was out of place. Some of my favorite looks include a short black structured dress with lots of intricate detailing and a black & white open shoulder cutout jacket with matching shorts.
Balmain’s show had a wide range of diversity. I’m very glad to see that designers are continuing to bring out more diversity when casting models for their shows. The venue was crowded and there was a spacious runway. Notable celebrities who attended the show and sat front row include Victoria’s Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio and fashion icon Olivia Palermo. The entire show was outstanding and I look forward to seeing celebrities and fashion icons wear Balmain’s new ready to wear S/S19 collection.
