DIY Diaries: Lanvin Inspired Necklace

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

This week’s DIY was inspired by a necklace by the designer Lanvin. Although that necklace followed a slightly different style both will give that perfect accessory that catches anyone’s attention.

What you need is a bit of tulle. I got about a ¼ of a yard just to have enough. You will also need a needle, thread, beads, scissors, and ribbon.

The first step is to cut the tulle into strips. I cut one about 4 inches wide, and folded it in half to make it thicker. If you cut the tulle down the longest way you should only need one strip. Once you have your strip fold it in half and sew one end onto a piece of ribbon. Once the ribbon is secured onto the tulle put your first bead on.

The idea is to thread over then under and back over. You will do this all the way down the tulle. When you thread “over” that is where you put a bead. Put a bead on as you thread over, then thread under and scrunch the fabric down.

When you scrunch it down it will make a tulle barrier between the beads. The longer you make the thread between beads the larger your barrier will be. This way you can make it as frilly as you like. Continue until done.

When you have your beads on just sew the tulle onto the other ribbon like when you started. Use the ribbons to tie it around your neck. This will give you a high-fashion look for a DIY friendly budget!
