Finals week is always a stressful time, not just because of exams, but also because most students who live in the dorms are packing up to move out, including me. Trying to find a balance between studying, packing, and time for yourself is a challenge, but there are a few ways I am able to do all three.
Studying
When I want to study, staying in my room is not an option for me because I get distracted very easily and I will be tempted to lay in my bed. I love going to the library because everyone else there is studying as well and it helps me get into the mindset to do more of my work. If I am not feeling up to going to the library, I will usually go to my dorm’s study lounge. Although it is not as quiet as the library, I am still able to be productive.
Packing
One thing about me is that I hate packing. I only live an hour away from campus, so a couple weekends ago I had my mom come down and help pack away some of my belongings so I don’t have a ton of stuff to pack. This helps me because I am able to spend less time on packing and I can focus on my finals. I also need background noise if I am doing chores. I typically will put on a YouTube video or movie, and this helps me to be very productive.
Time For Myself
Finding time for myself is something that I will always use as an excuse to justify laying in bed on TikTok. I usually procrastinate because I tell myself that time for myself helps to keep me calm and motivated. This is not always the case, and I often find myself forcing myself to do my homework. I have gotten better over the past couple of months by telling myself if I am able to take short frequent breaks to be on my phone this has helped me to be more productive.
Finding a balance of all three has helped me cope with having to take on a lot in the one of the most stressful weeks of college, but is important to staying sane and productive during the process all college kids dread.
