It first started with the brain.Â
Pressure molecules replaced airspace, until they cradled themselves on the ground, hoping it would stop.Â
That somehow, they could press a button or flip a switch, and it would all be released.
The tight band around their head, slowly crushing the skull.
It pulled on the chest, filled it with water, and drowned the lungs and heart.
Â
The feet rolled into paper, curving like a sea in the shower.
Then the ribs released.
Ceasing breath, and slowing the rise of the chest.Â
A piercing pinch shattered the shoulders, rattling across the rib cage.
Â
The skin began to peel off, the neck became sandpaper.
The thighs and arms, patches of pasty redness.
A scorched sandy desert.Â
The eyes then faded, until they were empty brown holes.Â
Â
Then the ears began to ring, and the eyes turned to jelly.
An unceasing siren accompanied a perpetual stare into the sun.Â
