Let’s be honest, nobody actually accomplishes their new year’s resolution. Remember yours; how is that going for you? People tend to be passionate at the start of the new year, but it becomes too daunting, life gets in the way, and there are too many ideas to complete. Here is my method to keeping the up the momentum and motivation.

Let’s make the year less daunting:

Let’s break up our year into three parts. January-April will be the first cycle, May-August will be the second cycle, and September-December will be the third and final cycle. If it takes 90 days for a habit to become part of your lifestyle, so this allows more time to solidify that. By breaking the year up, accomplishing a goal within a few months is much less daunting than completing it over a full year.

Let’s make some goals:

Now, pick a maximum of six goals or habits to accomplish in a year. It can be less than six, but never more, as that can become overwhelming. Pick one to two habits to incorporate into your life and solely focus on those. Limit it to only one to two goals per cycle so that you can focus and accomplish your goals. By the end, you should have integrated these habits successfully into your life. Make sure they are manageable goals, and if you have a large goal, break it down. It would be most effective to break big goals down into three cycles so that they can build upon one another.

I use this method to accomplish things throughout the year while keeping my new year momentum going. Give this method a try for your new school year or when 2024 rolls around!
