Â
What activities are you involved with at MSU? I’m a national member with the Society of Women Engineers on campus, and I recently joined the Materials Science and Engineering Society, although I haven’t done much with them yet.
Â
What is your favorite thing about being a Spartan? The family you join, as cheesy as it sounds! All of the alumni I’ve met are always so supportive!
Â
Favorite MSU Dairy Flavor? Sesquicentennial Swirl, but I really want to try Honor’s Coffee Toffee; I’ve heard it’s amazing!
Â
Your go-to outfit? Dark skinny jeans with TOMS, a T-shirt, cardigan, scarf and red lipstick.
Â
Can you tell me a little about drumline and that experience? This is my fourth year doing drumline, three were at Lake Orion High School and one at Northcoast Academy. For all four years of marching, I have been on a movement line, which is heavily dance based as opposed to drumming. It’s a really big transition from high school drumline to an independent (not school affiliated) group. We rehearse solely on weekends. Our rehearsal site is a middle school in Metro Detroit, which means hauling sleeping stuff there and back every week.
I’ve gotten to meet a lot of people from different colleges around and out of the state. Our show this year is based off of Mad Max: Fury Road and is called “Welcome to the Wasteland.” We perform at competitions around Michigan against other independent groups comprised of college students. At the very end of the season, all of the groups from around the world compete at the University of Dayton arena. It’s an amazing activity that brings together a lot of different people who are all very passionate about what they do.

Northcoast Academy Percussion Ensemble: “Welcome to the Wasteland”
Â
Favorite spot on campus? The garden behind the Chemistry building.
Â
Your future goals? I would really like to work with one of the major athletic companies, especially Nike or Adidas.
Â
Favorite memory at MSU so far? My friends and I camped out for the pink section for one of the football games. One of the ushers kept passing us packs of Skittles, so we could share the rainbow.
Â
Advice to incoming freshman? Don’t be afraid to join groups that you’re interested in! It makes campus a lot smaller when there are familiar faces.
Â
Do you have any exciting spring break plans? I’m going to Grand Rapids for a few days, besides that, lots of drumline!
Â
Celebrity crush? Ryan Gosling or Eddie Redmayne, both are major cuties.
Â
Football, basketball or hockey? Hockey for sure!
Â
Favorite hobbies? I danced from elementary through high school. I’m excited to start taking classes again next fall.
Â
A quote that you live by? “Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
