This past Saturday, 26-year-old rapper Megan Thee Stallion graduated from Texas Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in health administration. Megan posted excitingly on Twitter with the hashtag #MeganTheeGraduate, additionally sharing a streaming link to her commencement ceremony.
Megan says that family motivated her to pursue an education, telling People Magazine that despite her success in the music industry, her goal was to continue her education in tribute to her mother and grandmother. Her mother, Holly Thomas, passed away in 2019 from brain cancer and got to seeo Megan heading off to school before saying her goodbyes.
Adding onto her accomplishments, she has created a scholarship for women of color called the Don’t Stop Scholarship, officially shared in October 2020. The Scholarship works to honor and support young women of color in their higher education. Megan developed the fund in response to the underrepresentation experienced by women of color in education.
Megan shared on Twitter that she went to some community colleges between attending Prairie View A&M University and finishing at Texas Southern University. She encourages her fans to chase their dreams and get an education. Megan continues to reaffirm that women can do anything they put their minds to.
