I am in my second year at Michigan State University, and because I transferred in from community college, I have been able to bypass the live-on campus rule. My apartment has become my happy spot and I am very relaxed when I’m lounging on my couch, but I find that I am most productive when I’m out of my room. I have compiled a list of my favorite study spots both on and off campus.
- Chapelure
The place I find myself studying most frequently is off campus at Chapelure, located on Hagadorn by Hannah Blvd. They have the most amazing pastries and I personally love their chai lattes.
2. East Akers
The runner-up spot on my list is the East Akers study lounge. I have several friends who live on the east side of campus and we typically meet up in the lounge to study and do homework together. The best part is that if we get hungry, we can go up to the dining hall and get some food.
3. Blue Owl
My third favorite spot is a recent addition to the list. A friend introduced me to Blue Owl and I have grown to love it. It has a very homey feel and almost gives off Mackinac Island vibes. Located behind Grand River Ave, I highly recommend checking them out if you have never been there.
4. Mitten Raised
This coffee shop was the first one I ever went to upon arriving in East Lansing: Mitten Raised. I love their chai lattes and they also have delicious scones. The only downside is that they aren’t open very late into the day and I’m usually in class during their open hours.
5. The International Center
Last but not least is the International Center. This bustling place can be a little distracting at times, but the Crossroads Food Court located within has a Panda Express and Subway, so the pros outweigh the cons. The International Center is usually decorated for the season and currently they have butterflies hanging from the ceiling.
These are just a few of my favorite study spots on campus. Next time you need to get some work done or study for that big exam, consider trying out one of these options!
