This month marks the start of the second semester for all colleges. I have only been at MSU for around six months, and in these months I have learned how to live on my own, how to work D2L, only to a limited extent though, and I have made new friends. I still don’t completely know what I am doing, but I’m pretty sure I’m doing okay.
Here’s what I learned in my first second semester so far: It gets really cold in Michigan.
I’m from the northeast so it was wasn’t really warm per se, but if the temperature was below thirty they canceled school and no one really went on the road. After one semester, I can say they do not do that here.
Walking to class in three to nine-degree weather was so terrible that I had to start investing in warm clothes.
Another thing I learned: I don’t like having Friday off.
I mean everyone tries to have at least one day with no classes. Monday or Friday tends to be popular. I chose Monday last semester. I loved it. Now having Friday off is not the best. Friday already feels like a free day, so going back to school on Monday is the worst. I will try to avoid that for next semester.
The last big takeaway was relearning a whole new schedule. As soon as I started to get the first one down I had to learn a whole new one with different classes. That hasn’t been very easy. I’m slowly starting to get back into the groove of things. It’s taking longer than last semester.
Overall my the start of my second semester hasn’t been what I thought it would be but that’s alright, I’m learning as I go.
