Based on observation of fashion trends I’ve noticed around Michigan State University’s campus, spring trends may tell us what fall fashion will look like, as well as the incorporation of past trends. What exactly will fashion at MSU look like in the coming fall semester? Here are five trends I think we’ll see.
- Bows – 2024
With many of us inspired by Lana Del Rey’s coquette look, bows have become one of the most popular trends of 2023 and 2024. We’ve seen it as accessories for necklaces and hair clips, and even on tops and bottoms. With how huge this trend is at the moment, I believe it’ll carry over, making a basic cozy fall outfit look more girly and feminine.
- Fuzzy Coats – Timeless
Fuzzy coats are a necessity during the fall. As temperatures start to drop, a fuzzy coat would be the perfect jacket to wear, allowing you to stay stylish and warm.Â
- Low-Rise Skinny Jeans – Y2k
High rise skinny jeans were previously a trend back in 2014. We saw them on many influencers and a ton of celebrities, including Hailey Bieber and the Kardashians. As of now, low rise mom jeans are in. Since 2014 looks have been coming back recently, I believe we’ll see the incorporation of both, resulting in low rise skinny jeans.
- Trench Coats – Timeless
Trench coats are a timeless type of coat we’ve seen for years. What I love about these coats is you’re able to dress them up and down. If you’re going for a casual vibe, pairing this coat with a sweat set would add so much more to your look. If you’re going for a dressier/professional look for intern interviews or even a business class presentation, a trench coat would be perfect to wear with a dresser fit.
- Chunky Winter Boots – 2024
Chunky boats have been very trendy as of recently. We’ve seen the “moon boots” rising in popularity within the past couple of years, and it’s believed to have inspired many clothing companies to start making trendy looking snow boots. Around November, as it starts to hit freezing temperatures, these type of boots will be perfect for students to wear on their way to class.Â
Most clothing and accessories we’ll see in fall of 2024 will include an outdoor wear look. From fuzzy boots, coats, cozy sets, etc., these items discussed above will definitely be some staple pieces we’ll see around MSU’s campus, incorporating a Y2K, 90’s, and 2024 aesthetic.
