As the end of another school year draws near, I find myself reflecting on my experiences in a different manner than I have in previous years. What seemed like a never-ending experience such a short time ago, is almost at its end. As I walk through campus, I find myself relating less to the students packing away their dorm rooms and more to the seniors posing for their last pictures in front of Sparty.
It’s hard to fathom how quickly time flies. Time, especially in college, often passes too quickly, which is why I am thankful that I have one final year left at MSU. In order to make the most of it, I felt it was necessary to create a few senior year resolutions. The end of the school year is almost as big of an ordeal as the end of the calendar year. In fact, at this point in our young lives, mid-May might be a more pivotal time to aspire to change and grow than early January.
This list (although not exhaustive) contains everything that I believe is essential to having the ultimate final year at Michigan State. Tuck it aside now, but be sure to revisit this list in the fall, because you’ll definitely want to hold yourself accountable to the promises below:
-
I promise to try a new restaurant in East Lansing each week.
-
I promise to get dressed up for class on a semi-regular basis.
-
I promise to face challenges in the classroom and my social life with a confident attitude.
-
I promise to go to at least one on-campus sporting event each semester.
-
I promise to build a professional relationship with at least one of my professors.
-
I promise to visit a new study spot on campus every week.
-
I promise to blow off my homework to go to Harper’s on a Tuesday.
-
I promise to catch up with a friend from freshman year with whom I’ve lost touch.
-
I promise to step out of my comfort zone both academically and socially.
-
I promise to thank each person who made my college experience so memorable.
By keeping these promises to yourself in your final year at MSU, you’re guaranteed to leave with lasting memories and a lasting impression.
