Struggling with Acne? Try These Three Dermatologist Approved Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

Acne, while a common struggle, can be difficult to treat. Everyoneā€™s skin is different, and most products on the market are designed for oily, acne-prone skin. For those with dry or combo skin that struggle with acne and other skin conditions, finding products to address these concerns is infuriatingly difficult. However, after much searching and trial-and-error, here are three products that can work for any skin type!

Cleanser

The cleanser that I recommend is made by CeraVe, and comes in two different types; a foaming cleanser for normal to oily skin, and a cream-based cleanser for normal to dry skin. Both are rich with niacinamide, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid (all of which repair the skinā€™s natural barrier).

Hyaluronic Acid

The Ordinary is a brand that, like CeraVe, caters to many different skin conditions, but has made a name for itself with its products that are designed to target acne. One such product that has significantly reduced my acne is their Hyaluronic Acid. It is formulated for sensitive skin, and I highly endorse it to anyone that has this skin type.

Moisturizer

A great moisturizer to consider when replenishing the skin barrier is the CeraVe daily moisturizer, which contains hyaluronic acid. An added benefit to using this lotion, is that it comes with sun protection so the skin will be protected from additional damage.

When starting off with a skincare routine, one should consider a maximum of three products. Especially when the skin is breaking out or purging, minimizing the amount of product on your face will allow the moisture barrier to heal quickly.
