What kind of things are you involved in on MSU’s campus?
For the last two years, I’ve been involved with the Honors Times Two Mentoring Program through the MSU Honors College. This was one of the first organizations that I joined when I arrived because I’ve always enjoyed working with kids. It’s nice to take an hour out of each week to foster a love for learning in kids and to spend time thinking about someone else rather than focusing on all the stressors we have to deal with as college students.
What do you want to do after graduation?
My dream career is to be a judge. Although I’m a little daunted by the prospect of going to law school, I’ve spent a lot of time in my classes learning about how different groups in our society interact with various institutions and I’d like to be someone that can help redefine how justice is served in our country. Before being a judge, I’d like to work as a prosecutor.
What are your plans once you finish the school year?
I really love traveling, and I’m beyond excited that this summer I’ll be studying abroad in Amsterdam for a month! I’ve been abroad a couple of times before (Spain and Bermuda,) and I’m honestly thrilled that I’ll be able to spend some time away from the nonsense going on in America right now.
Why did you join Her Campus?
I joined at the beginning of fall semester because I wanted to be part of a group where I could meet some fierce, fabulous college gals and write for fun. I’ve loved being part of Her Campus, and I feel very honored and excited that I’ll get to serve as editor in chief! When I was younger, I wanted to go into publishing and be an editor, so I guess this is about as close as I’m ever going to get! Also, I’m a big fan of The Bold Type on Freeform, so I feel like I’m living out that fantasy a little bit. Those ladies are badass to say the least.
What are you most looking forward to as editor in chief of Her Campus?
What I’m looking forward to as editor is the opportunity to become even more involved with the group. I’ve loved it since the day I submitted my first article, and I’m hopeful that I can fill our previous editor’s shoes! I’m looking forward to becoming a better writer through this position and helping other people become better writers as well. I want to help grow our chapter of Her Campus and churn out content that engages our community of Spartan women. I’m also really excited that I’m going to be able to put a position like this on my resume!
Fun fact about yourself?
I’m a diehard Potterhead, and a Slytherin according to any “Harry Potter” quiz I’ve ever taken. Last summer, I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in California with my boyfriend’s family, which was AMAZING. I literally cast spells, bowed to Buckbeak, and drank so much butterbeer. I peaked in Hogsmeade, honestly.
