The Top 5 Places To Use Your Combo On Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

As the semester begins to wind down, don’t forget to use your ComboXChanges! For those unaware of the Combo program at Michigan State University, a student gets 12 Combo passes a week (in addition to their dining plan) which can be redeemed at many different locations. Students can get an A, B, and C item for their Combo. A is a drink, B is a meal, C is a snack. To make the most of your money and time on campus, here are my top 5 places to use your Combo on campus!

  1. Starbucks at 1855 or Wells Hall

This truly needs no explanation. At Starbucks you can get an A and B item. The A item includes a tall Starbucks drink of your choosing and the B item is any packaged or fresh snack from the counter. Especially now that the speciality holiday drinks are here at Starbucks, treat yourself to a fun drink and snack on your way to class. Though the line is (sometimes) a bit long, it’s well worth it for the caffeine rush later.

  1. Panera Bread at Minskoff Pavillion

The Minskoff Pavillion is a gorgeous building perfect for studying, but the true treasure is the Panera Bread downstairs. With both breakfast and lunch options, the Panera Bread is a perfect place to grab a bite while you’re studying. Get a sandwich, side, and drink for lunch, or perhaps a bagel and coffee for breakfast. You can’t go wrong with the variety of choices available.

  1. Subway at International Center

While the International Center’s food court is famously known for the Panda Express, I have to argue that the Subway is the better deal. You get a 6 inch sandwich with a side of cookies or chips and a fountain drink. The Panda Express lines are long, so try Subway next time you’re at the center of campus. It’s customized, filling, and a great grab-and-go option for those with classes nearby.

  1. The Workshop at the STEM Building

If you need a super convenient Sparty’s, go to The Workshop. Located on the first floor of the STEM Building, there are hot items available for B and C, but there are also plenty of options for later. Try grabbing a panini or a bagel next time you’re working at the STEM Building. Some of the great things about The Workshop are its quick service and product availability.

  1. Sparty’s Market at 1855 Place

If you want a place with options, come to 1855’s Sparty Market. There are hot B items during lunch hours, tons of A items, and delicious C items. My favorites include the mozzarella sticks (C), chicken tenders (B), vanilla pudding (C), Peet’s Coffee cans (A). and frozen chicken tikka meals (B) . With so much variety and convenience, 1855’s Sparty Market is the place to check out for lunch options.

Don’t forget to utilize your Combos before the end of the semester. Here’s to eating well, exploring campus, and enjoying university life!

A Michigan State University student by day, an 8-hour sleeper by night Aditi would best describe herself as a "rather simple enigma." As she embarks on her college journey, Aditi cherishes the simple things in life: a cup of coffee, some pastel post-it notes, and her ever-growing succulent.
