The Sanderson sisters may be three of the most feared and hated witches in all of Salem (at least for the characters from the 1993 Disney Channel original movie, “Hocus Pocus”) — but I personally think that we can all relate to them on some level. Here are seven ways in which the Sanderson sisters are just like us:
1. We’ve all felt this at some point.
There are always those mornings when you wake up bitter and in no mood to do anything. Maybe you just go out of a relationship, maybe you’re single and can’t seem to find love, maybe school has got you so overwhelmed you can’t hardly stand it. No matter what the deal is, sometimes a glorious morning really is just sickening.
2. We’ve all wanted to keep our youth.
Sure, I guess you could say it’s not exactly right for the Sanderson sisters to suck the life out of little children in order to stay young forever…but women will spend hundreds of dollars a year in order to maintain their youth. Same difference, right?
3. We all love a good performance.
I mean c’mon. Who hasn’t broken out into a totally unrehearsed, yet perfectly choreographed musical number at some point in their life?
4. We’ve all had some sibling drama.
As much as we all love our siblings, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. We feel you, Winnie, we feel you.
5. We’ve all been confused by the 21st century.
When Winnie, Sarah, and Mary come back to life after 300 years, the times had changed a bit. Paved roads, public transportation, even the concept of Halloween was all new to these sisters. Even though these things are totally normal to us, there are definitely things about this century that I find myself completely baffled about (I’d love to see Winnie with an iPhone.)
6. We’ve all been here.
Whether it’s love, work, school, or just life in general that’s totally stressing you out, we all like to think we’re handling it like a pro…but really we’re a basket case ready to explode at any time.
7. We all know one thing.
Though the Sanderson sisters may not be the greatest role models out there, there is no denying that they’re not at least somewhat relatable. Sure they made some mistakes but, in the end, it’s all just a bunch of hocus pocus.
Happy Halloween everybody!
