Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Review

This January, Her Campus at MSU was given the opportunity to partner with Yves Saint Laurent to promote their Black Opium Eau de Parfum. Described by YSL as warm and spicy, the featured notes are vanilla, coffee, and white flowers.

Charlie’s Review

I had never owned or smelled this perfume before. I have been on a personal quest to find my signature scent, so I was over the moon when I heard we would be receiving samples of YSL Black Opium. While I tend to stay away from strong notes of vanilla, Black Opium delivers a delightful combination of floral and a tasteful amount of vanilla that does not overpower the rest of the perfume. It is sweet in a gentle way, but also light and spicy enough to demand anyone’s attention. I really enjoy this perfume and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile scent with warmer notes, especially in the fall and winter.

Alexis’ Review

This perfume holds a lot of sentimental value for me. It has been my go-to scent for years now since I first tested it in a Sephora in high school and saved up to buy it. I am a very selective person when it comes to scents, and find many perfumes too sweet or too overpowering. However, I found Black Opium to be the perfect balance of sweet and heavy. This perfume makes me feel elegant and confident, as I know it will last all day and smell amazing the whole time. From personal experience as a nonbinary person who enjoys exploring gender expression, I can say that this perfume has been with me throughout my journey, and I believe it would be perfect for any gender to wear. I would highly recommend this perfume to anyone who enjoys–or would like to explore–powerful, stand-out scents that still feel  wearable.

HCMSU is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to partner with Yves Saint Laurent. Our members have really enjoyed the experience as well as the perfume!
