When it comes to big trends in fashion, what’s old is new again. Some trends coming back this fall you may have seen in 80s movies, or your mom may have even worn them back in the day. Yikes! To rock this 80s trend on campus this fall, I have put together some staples that scream 80s and add a unique touch to any outfit.
1. Tinsel Jacket
Add a razzle-dazzle pop of color to any outfit this fall with this tinsel jacket. This jacket provides an extra layer of warmth as you walk from class to class in the cold weather. Pair with a classic t-shirt, jeans and your favorite sneakers for a fun campus look. You can also throw this over a slip dress for a simple party look that will stand out in the crowd.
2. Checkered Tweed Blazer
This practical jacket will add a sense of sophistication to any look and make an awesome first impression. With classic gold buttons, frayed hems and large pockets, this jacket is unique as well as practical. Wear with a pair of black trousers and loafers to complete a stylish business outfit, or pair with your favorite denim jeans for a casual on-campus look.
3. The Classic Black T
A comfy t-shirt has always been a staple, especially when rolling out of bed to get to class on time. I think this shirt is a must-have for almost all generations, past and future. This shirt acts as a simple canvas to dress up and use to layer with. Throw on a classic jean jacket or tuck into a skirt for a more feminine look. Throw on your favorite jewelry to stand out against the understated black.
4. Chunky Buckle Belt
This statement belt is practical and fashionable. Throw over an oversized sweater to channel a classic 80s look, or pair with some high waisted jeans and a tucked in blouse for a more modern approach.
5. Velvet Scrunchies
Scrunchies are probably my all-time obsession. Opt for this if you want a more subtle 80s look. Scrunchies are a great statement piece for any hair style and add a textured pop of color that really stands out. Tie off a high ponytail with your favorite color scrunchie to channel your inner 80s style while keeping your hair out of your face for those busy days.
The 80s was a decade of vibrant colors, oversized jackets and power suits. Adding a statement piece inspired by this time period to your everyday look really makes it pop and brings happy vibes with bright colors. Hope you give them a try!
