- Mini
-
The Times Mini is by far my all-time favorite of all the games. It doesn’t take that long, and it’s really fun to compete with your friends and see who can get the fastest time! Some of them are harder than others, and some I finish in 20 seconds! I look forward to the daily Mini every single morning. One of the best parts is that it’s free! You don’t have to pay for the subscription in order to access this game.
- Crossword
-
There’s a reason why the Times‘ Crossword is so iconic. I love the way that the crosswords get progressively harder as the week goes on, starting with an easy one on Monday and ending with a super-difficult one on Saturday. There are also ways to make playing much easier (such as using Auto-Check), which makes it very accessible for beginners!
- Wordle
-
This game is extremely popular, and it’s not hard to tell why. It’s really easy to learn and play, as well as not too difficult to beat. It all depends on whether or not you have a good starting word and where that leads you throughout the puzzle. My go-to’s are either “BREAD” or “OCEAN.”
- Letter Boxed
-
I was pleasantly surprised by this game. It doesn’t take too long, and there are multiple chances to try again, so it’s more low stakes. I’m a big fan of word games, and this game is a challenge without being too unapproachable. Finally, it’s a hidden gem! People don’t talk about this game as much as they talk about the Crossword, or Wordle, but it’s just as entertaining!
- Spelling Bee
-
One of the reasons why I love the Spelling Bee is that it can be an ongoing challenge to work on throughout the day. It can be difficult to come up with words, but there is a website that provides pretty good hints for people who might need a boost!
- Sudoku
-
For me, this game gets knocked down a few points for its lack of originality. I do like Sudoku, but I don’t see the point of playing it on the Times website as opposed to using a book of Sudoku problems or looking up another website. I do like how you can choose the difficulty level, but overall, it’s just regular Sudoku.
- Vertex
-
This game can get repetitive after a while, but it is fun to have a mindless task of connecting triangles to form a picture! It’s also great for when you need a break from word games.
- Tiles
-
This game makes me lose interest quickly. The point of the game is to match tiles that have the same visual components until all of the tiles disappear from the board. It is in the category of games that don’t use words, but it just doesn’t capture my attention at all.
