I enjoy watching television shows from all over the world. I have loads of recommendations for good television shows, so I decided to break those recommendations up into groups by the continent that these shows are from. Most of these shows are in the national language of the country they were made in but if foreign-language shows are not your thing, you can always switch audio settings. I have tried to include television shows from a range of genres so that you can find something you will enjoy. My recommendations are:

Lupin (France)

Lupin is a new show on Netflix in which the main character, Assane Diop, is a professional thief who is inspired by the Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar books by French novelist Maurice Leblanc. Assane is a master of disguise just like his role model Lupin and is out to find the truth of what happened to his father, an immigrant from Senegal who had come to France to seek a better life for his child. It’s a very interesting show and is extremely well-made.

Biohackers (Germany)

Biohackers is a German television show in which a medical student enters a top German university on a secret mission to uncover the conspiracy which links her family to a biology professor. This show has loads of plot twists and will keep you guessing until the very end.

Summertime (Italy)

Summertime is an Italian television show in which the main character, Summer, longs to leave her small town and travel the world. The show follows Summer and her two friends, who spend their holidays falling in love and growing up. I really liked this show and the Italian scenery is beautiful in it.

Money Heist (Spain)

Money Heist or La Casa de la Papel is a Spanish television show which follows eight criminals who are led by a mastermind who goes by the name “The Professor” as they set out to rob the Royal Mint of Spain. If there was one Spanish show I was asked to recommend, I would definitely recommend this one. I love the storyline with its infinite plot twists and of course the unpredictable yet extremely real characters who help make this story the success it is.

The Royals (UK)

In this show, the (fictional) British royal family is thrown into turmoil when the heir to the throne dies suddenly. His younger siblings struggle to come to terms with their new roles, while the queen tries to secure her grasp on the throne. This show is in English as it is from the UK and it’s one of my favorites because of its story and characters. I am sure you will immediately fall in love with this show too!

Home for Christmas (Norway)

Home for Christmas is a Norwegian show which takes place during the holiday season. Johanne, who is single, is tired of the constant remarks and comments on her relationship status. So she starts a 24-day hunt — starting on December 1st —  for a boyfriend to bring home for Christmas dinner with her family. This show is great to watch during the holidays but is fun to watch with family or friends any time of the year too!

I am always on the lookout for shows from other countries so as to get a small window into their culture. I hope you enjoy watching these shows as much as I did!
