Sophia’s Declassifed: 3 Tips for Making the Most of Your Online School Experience

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

To Zoom or not to Zoom? That is the question that has plagued many of us this upcoming school year. With the shift from in-person education to virtual learning, it’s easy to feel discouraged when it comes to completing your schoolwork. But I’m here to tell you, whether in person or online, the Hot Girl Semester must go on. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your online school experience.

1. Take charge of your online learning

First thing’s first: make sure you take classes that you know you will enjoy. I cannot stress this enough. Now is your chance to seize the moment and take your education back into your own hands. You don’t want to be in a situation where every single morning waking up for a class you feel complete and utter dread about having to attend. If you cannot avoid taking a class that you know you will hate, try pairing that class with a course that you know you will enjoy that has a similar concept.

2. Time management is key

Remember, we are trying to have that Hot Girl Semester online edition. With classes being online, it is essential to nip those negative habits in the bud. I am talking about your procrastination. Now is not the time to procrastinate with school work. Most of us have fallen victim to procrastination at some point in our educational career. We must resist that temptation. When you know you have a big assignment due that week, break the assignment up into parts to make it easier to work on throughout the week.

3. Take care of yourself

Last but not least, make sure you take care of yourself. Self love is the most important kind of love. Taking time for yourself is not selfish. How can you expect to make the most of your online experience when you feel burnt out?  Each day set aside at least 20 minutes out of your day to do something that you love and find relaxing. Whether that be journaling or yoga, make sure to take that time for yourself.

As easy as it is to feel discouraged about having to go to school online, it is important to make the most of your experience online. Like everything else in life, online learning is what you make of it. Only you have the power to make your online experience great. With that, I hope you found some of these tips helpful and choose to implement them in your own life.
