These Apps Will Make Your Insta Stories Works of Art

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

Ok, I’ll admit it. I probably spend way too much time crafting the perfect Instagram stories. What can I say? There are so many creative possibilities and hacks that are so fun to learn and make your insta stories look bomb. Here are my favorite apps to get your creativity on while making your stories look bomb.

Snow

Meet Snow, your new secret weapon. The app describes itself as a “beauty and makeup camera” on the app store, but it does so much more than that. In addition to filtering your face a la Snapchat, the app also allows you to add text in many more fonts than the Instagram app, as well as add stickers, draw, and add custom frames to your photos. The draw feature allows you to be much more creative than just using color and I love drawing with glitter or other patterns (as seen above) to spice up my pics. You can also easily make your photos look vintage or grainy, and add timestamps for that retro look. I highly recommend this app for Insta stories, as it is the only one I have found which allows you all of these creative tools in one place for free.

Unfold

With Unfold, you can create and plan a bunch of stories at once. This app is great if you want to create a cohesive, simplistic theme with your stories. You can choose from many collage layouts, pick fonts and colors for your backgrounds, and frame your photos. You can organize your stories into groups so you can post them all at once.

 Instagram

Yes, I know, Instagram is painfully obvious and everyone already knows that it is the most basic story editor out there. I had to include it, because to be completely honest, I use the Instagram app to edit 90% of my stories. If you know all the tips and tricks, the creative options are very diverse. Covering how to utilize all these lesser known features would take an entire article by itself, but some of my favorites include rainbow/ombre text, layering fonts to create three dimensional blocks, and creating collages using the copy and paste method. Combining fonts is also a super simple and effective way to spice up your stories.

XOXO,

Bella
