There are a myriad of artists who are producing great music every year. Yet, for queer people such as myself, it is a tad bit hard to relate to the mainstream music. Since it revolves around straight people and their lives, it is hard to see yourself in their songs. So my fellow LGBTQIA+ people, I would like to present to you my personal favorite queer artists:
Girl In Red:Â How, for the sake of God, can I not mention Girl in Red as the first one in my list of amazing artists. Girl in red is an indie pop singer from Norway. They became prominent after their first single âI Wanna Be Your Girlfriendââ which debuted in 2017. My favorites are âWe Fell In Love In Octoberâ for wholesome purposes or âsummer depressionâ for anxiety purposes.
King Princess: If you haven’t heard her first single debut â1950â , you should leave everything and do this first! Mikaela Mullaney Straus, who goes by the name of King Princess in the music industry, has been one of her kind. Her stage name, she says , revolves around the complexity of her gender. She wrote âTailaâ, in 10 minutes!
Troye Sivan:If you want to feel feelings, you have to listen to this artist. Troye Sivanâs first debut album âBlue Neighborhoodâ is everything you need to make yourself cry. Besides, my personal favorite song is âThe Good Sideâ because the lyrics are so pure and yet heartbreaking. âBloomâ is another bop about queer sexual desires. A must hear!
Demi Lovato:Â They opened up about their sexuality recently as being non-binary. They have the power to make you feel all badass and strong through their songs. Their âSoloâ will make you cut off all the toxic people in your life and we all know how bad we are at it. So if you want an instant push to gain more confidence, go listen to their songs.
Kehlani:Â One of the most underrated queer artists is Kehlani. Her songs bring a rich value to the music industry, be it her first single âANTISUMMERLUVâ or be it âFirst Positionâ which is about sexual freedom. Her songs and lyrics are a piece of artwork.

So what are you still waiting for? This pride month, celebrate queer artists a little more than usual Go and enjoy their music and share it with your friends.
