If you’re like me, you prefer to spend your already too short fall break doing absolutely nothing. And while I don’t have that luxury this year (destination weddings tend to take up a lot of time), you might! If you have a do-nothing, no pants, only come out for food mindset going into fall break, here are seven things you can do without leaving your bed!
- Netflix and chill (alone). It never lets you down. Pick a new TV show (or if you’re like me, re-watch the same one over and over) and binge for hours on someone else’s drama. Need recommendations? Here are some of my favorites:Â Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Scandal, House of Cards…Â should I keep going? Your only problem may be the distance between you and the remote. Â
- Read books you actually want to read, not the ones professors tell you to read. If you’re a student, you get free Amazon Prime, so head over there and stock up! Need some ideas on what to read? Here’s a list of some of my favorites! Â
- Start a blog. I’m not kidding. Blogging can be so much fun and an escape from real life if you need it to be. I started one for a class last year, and I still use it today. Only now, it’s more of a brain dump, complain about the world, share recipes and tips on how to not die while at college blog. It’s fun. Try it! Â
- Have a movie marathon of all your old favorites. Hours and hours of Disney movies is basically a soul cleansing exercise, and one that I highly recommend partaking in. You’ve probably got a stash of DVDs somewhere in your house, go raid that and grab some snacks, then don’t come out of your room until you’ve blasted through every. Single. One. (You may want send signs of life every few hours.) Â
- Just sleep. This one doesn’t need to be explained. Â
- Travel anywhere in the world. I’m serious. You want to go to Italy? Perfect! Find some Italian music and listen to it. Read about the country. Order takeout from an Italian restaurant and immediately take it to your bedroom and pretend you’re sitting outside a cafe people watching. Close your eyes and let yourself go. Â
- This one technically involves leaving your bed, but it’s still just as relaxing and involves laying down. Give yourself a spa day. Find some essential oils, get a bath bomb or bubble bath, light some candles, play some music, turn the lights down, put cucumbers over your eyes if you want the full experience… doing this will cause some serious relaxiation, and you’ll smell good after you’re finished! It’s a win-win. Â
Happy fall break, racers!Â
