The highlight of my day is definitely finding a quaint coffee shop and grabbing a cup of iced coffee to beat the heat. If you are a coffee enthusiast like me, you’ve come to the right place. After hunting and testing various coffee places around Singapore, I’ve narrowed down 5 unique places you must visit if you too are a coffee fanatic!
1. Dawn
Starting off with my favourite spot, Dawn is a quaint and rustic coffee shop located in the CBD. A good break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, Dawn is a Japanese inspired roadside cafe serving coffee and a variety of small bakes and if you are lucky, sandos too! This small and cosy place has become one of my top favourite places to grab a coffee during tea time to slow down and enjoy one of their delicious bakes.
What I got here:
- Iced white: In my personal opinion one of the best iced whites i’ve tried! Hints of vanilla and roasted nuts, their iced white is strong but not overpowering and has a slight acidity to it. Their iced white has the perfect balance of milk to espresso, and smooth to the tongue.
- Special mention to their Tamago Sando (which was a seasonal special), the sauce they used was amazing so do get them if you visit them!Â
Dawn: 78 South Bridge Rd, Singapore 058708
Weekdays: 8am-5pm
Weekends: 9am-5pm
2. Apartment Coffee
Apartment Coffee, a minimalist coffee studio specialising in coffee and tea has an extensive range of coffee beans. Apartment has one of the nicest ambiences, with a calming and aesthetic interior design, their coffee is served in ceramic cups and each hand brew comes with a small card with a description of the beans used. You can also purchase a wide variety of beans from them, including a monthly coffee subscription!
What I got here:
- Iced white: Their ice white has a semi-strong coffee taste, lower in acidity, and slightly nutty. An overall good cup of iced white for non adventurous drinkers looking for a casual cup of iced latte.
- Handbrew, El Salvador Mileydi: Came with a card describing the notes: Redcurrant, white peach and mandarin. Has citrus and herby notes, with a strong aftertaste. I recommend getting this on a rainy day, sure to warm your heart!
Apartment Coffee: 161 Lavender St., #01-12, Singapore 338750Â
Mon-Sun: 10am-6pm
3. Puck Provisions
Puck Provision is a new artsy coffee shop you have to visit. Serving both espressos and handbrews, this specialty coffee bar has a unique interior design, showcasing a skateboard theme and even an art gallery at the back of their cafe! If you are looking to visit a trendy place with good coffee, music and art, definitely visit Puck Provisions.Â
What I got here:
- Iced white: Puck offers 2 choices of beans for their espresso based coffees. If you are looking for a more unique tasting drink, I recommend getting the Ambo Konjo beans for a more floral/earthy strong tasting coffee. But if you are looking for a milder tasting coffee get the Micro Camro for a nutty and smooth coffee. Â
- Iced Handbrew, Kello Haru, Ethopia: Their hand brew surprisingly tastes almost like an iced tea, with strong fruity and floral notes with slight sourness and low acidity. A nice refreshing drink to grab especially on those hot sunny daysÂ
Puck Provisions: Â 618 Serangoon Rd, #01-01, Singapore 218220
Tue-Sun: 10am-6pm
4. Coexist Coffee Co.
With their latest outlet opening at Paya Lebar, Coexist Coffee Co. a coffee centric cafe offers an extensive range of beans for you to choose from, selecting between espresso blends and filters. If you are looking beyond just grabbing a cup of coffee to complete your day, Coexist is a good cafe to visit to grab a meal or a bite whilst satisfying your caffeine cravings. They now have 3 outlets, each with their own beautiful charm and menu, my personal favourite being their rooftop outlet at Hillview Building, with a unique burgundy and white interior.Â
What I got here:
- At their hillview outlet, Iced white: a good strong cup of milk coffee, i enjoyed their iced white (as i always do), nothing too special and was a good classic espresso based flat white.Â
- At their Paya Lebar outlet, Risk Taker Tasting Flight: If you are an indecisive person like me, you can skip the dilemma for Coexist offers tasting flights, allowing you to taste 2-3 different types of coffee brought to you in the cutest shot glasses. Almost like wine tasting, you get the best of both worlds and choose from both their espresso and filter beans. I would say this is the highlight of my coffee tasting experience as this was the first and only place i was able to find that offered tasting flights! Although do note the shots given were pretty strong, so if you are looking for a caffeine forward experience be sure try it!
11, 01-02 Eunos Rd 8, Lifelong Learning Institute, 408601, Mon-Sun: 8.30am-10.30pm
1 Keong Saik Rd., #01-02, Singapore 089109, Mon-Sun: 8.30am-5.30pm

5. Bloom Coffee
Bloom, a new Scandinavian themed cafe at the east specialises in both coffee and sangas, an Australian slang for sandwiches. With both an outdoor (pet friendly) and indoor seating areas, Bloom is a good brunch place to grab a coffee and at the same time a sanga to start your day!
What I got here:
- Iced Matcha Latte: It’s pretty hard to find a good cup of matcha in Singapore, and Bloom serves a pretty fine matcha latte! It is not overly sweet like what you get at Starbucks, and does not taste like a handful of grass either.Â
- Iced White: I chose their Papua New Guinea beans, offering herbal tones with slight bitterness. Bloom’s iced white is smooth and semi strong, easy on the palette.
- Filter, Ethiopia: Bloom’s filter coffee is on the stronger side, carrying earthy tones with a slight sour after taste.Â
Bloom Coffee: 87 Upper E Coast Rd, Singapore 455223
Weekdays : 8am – 6pm (closed on tues)
Weekends : 9am – 6pm
