Recently, I had the opportunity to sit and interview our university’s very own talented and gifted running back, Tarik Cohen. Many may know him as the guy who caught the football while doing a backflip on ESPN, while students at North Carolina A&T know him as our star football player making history in AggieLand. As Cohen brings his legendary college football career to an end at A&T, we wish him much luck and success as he gears up to take on the 2017 NFL Combine.
He will always be known as one of the best to play in the Aggie Stadium and we wish him luck and success as he takes on the 2017 NFL Combine.
Check out a few things I learned about this star athlete from our sit-down.
1. What are your career goals?
In terms of football, I want to make it to the NFL, and play for about 3 to 4 years, get a good name for myself and really just finance myself off of marketing. After the football aspect of life I would like to get into a lot of Boys and Girls Clubs- probably even open up one and work there.
2. Where does your love for football come from?
Just the many possibilities that the game could go and all the things you could do on the field. I just feel free out there.
3. How long have you been playing?
Since I was like seven year old. My mom put me and my brothers in football and we just stuck to it.
4. For Super Bowl who did you root for?
Neither team. I don’t have a favorite football team.
5. Do you have any pregame rituals?
Yes, I watch all of my highlight tapes from past seasons, even back to high school, just to remind myself of what I’m capable of.
6. What is something that football has taught you about life?
There will be doubters, there will be naysayers, but you have to continue past that to reach your goals.
7. What is something many people may not know about you?
I guess that I like R&B music more than rap.
8. What is your favorite R&B album?
Drake “Take Care”
9. If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A tiger. It’s my favorite animal because they’re the king of where they’re at.
10. Valentine’s Day just passed, did you have any special plans?
None at all.
11. What is one piece of advice you would give the younger you?
Just be patient.
