“Start by doing what’s necessary then do what’s possible; and suddenly you’re doing the impossible. “– Francis of Assisi.

This quote perfectly describes Emani Harris and her “Pish Posh” line. Saturday April 16, 2016 was the Pish Posh “Blackout Fashion Show” where she debuted a new addition to her line. I attended the event in hopes to get interviews with her models and insight on other upcoming items.

At the show there were other entrepreneurs, musicians, dancers, and local talent. I enjoyed the intermissions and the funny remarks from the host Prodigy. The clothes were filled with exciting colors and original ideas. Seeing the models rip the runway made me want to strut down it myself. I spoke with four models known as: Trey G. Riley, Calvin Affleck, Novocain, and the last model wished to remain anonymous.

What does “Pish Post” mean to you?

It’s a chance to be bold. The ability to express creativity for the future as well as modeling opportunities and exposure.  It means fashion forward.

How does it feel to be here in this very moment?

I feel like I’m a part of history, I say that because you never know when something is going to spark for the whole generation. It’s best to be supportive of the African-American community and individual dreams.

What did you do to prepare for this?

To prepare for this I made sure I got myself together and showed her what I could do. I made sure I had all my clothes accessories, makeup, etc together before the big day. We had a lot of practice. I would just suggest that everyone breathe because this is the moment we prepared for.

After speaking with some of the models and seeing the admiration on the crowd’s faces I was dying to know what was going through Emani’s head.

“Pish Posh” to her is a line that is breaking boundaries and everything is handcrafted. I agree that it is an abstract line with no limits. Ms. Harris hopes to own her own business in New York or Atlanta capitalizing on her business.  In the fall we can expect the new line to be better than the last, but I don’t know how much better it can already get! I’m very excited fir what’s coming next. If you can’t hold in your anticipation and want to see more products follow the page and check out her website for more pieces. I see a bright future for this ARTreprenuer.

Hi everyone! I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world. This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country. Check out my Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
