Semester Reflection Part 1

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCAT chapter.

It’s the moment we have ALL been waiting for. Whether you are an out of towner or right here on campus, from Timbuktu to the office of Career Services. IT’S HOMECOMING SEASON! Homecoming is a wonderful time filled with fun, games, new faces, and new names. Starting Monday, October 27, 2016 A&T hosted the very first crowning to signify the season. The Residence Hall Association apart of Housing and Residence Life took us on a journey to the past as we visited ancient Egypt to see our Mister and Miss RHA Emmanuel Beatty and Tyesha Butler along with their royal court of each Residence Hall become royalty.

Next we visited the wonderful land of Wonderland with Mister and Miss SUAB to witness the crowning of Shantel Hunter and DreShaun Jarmon.

Each event made us more and more anxious to see what else was in store to because our travels weren’t over. On Sunday, October 23, 2016 our expedition ended with an Arabian Night, the coronation of Mister and Miss A&T Jeffron Small and Jasmine Boles. It was a heartfelt event seeing the former Mister and Miss A&T Jamaal Averett and Myja Gary crown our new 2016-2017 Mister and Miss North Carolina A&T State University.

We got a chance to experience a portion of their long road to this very moment through the stories they told, laughs we shared, and bonds we built with both of them. Following the King and Queen receiving their crowns we were serenaded by “3rd lane” and Mister Jeffron Smalls mother. It was a tearjerker. Now that the royal courts have been rewarded with their crowns and sashes we will travel back to the Aggieland.

I am Alexis Hooper, President of the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University chapter of Her Campus.
Hi everyone! I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world. This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country. Check out my Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
