Fall is upon us, and I surely do not mind because it’s my favorite time of year. The leaves are changing into beautiful colors, hoodie season is in full effect and you don’t even have to worry about sweating on the way to class! Yet we all know that when the seasons change, so does our skin care routine (or at least mine does). As the season changes and the air gets drier, your skin also loses its moisture, thus causing dry skin. These couple of tips are going to be your bff to having glowing and moisturized skin.
1. Let’s Exfoliate!
I really love exfoliating because it truly just makes your skin glow! I know when the season changes, my skin will start to peel and become flakey, so exfoliation is key for me. People often believe that they have to go out and spend $20 or $30 on a special face mask or brand name exfoliator, when really all you need is some brown sugar, organic olive oil and a lemon. Mix it up to the consistency that you prefer (I like mine with more brown sugar than olive oil and lemon) and boom, you have an exfoliator, skin brightener and moisturizer all in one. In total, you’ll spend about $6 to $10.
2. Butters and Oils
Your skin is the largest gland you possess, so making sure that it is clean and moisturized is your job, while your skin’s job is to protect you. 100% raw shea butter (which is the most popular) is a great moisturizing butter that will keep your skin in check during the colder months. Raw shea butter is super thick, so to soften it up upon application to the skin, you can mix it with lotion or with an oil such as coconut, avocado, jojoba, olive oil, grapeseed oil or even sweet almond oil. And if you want a light fragrance added you can even add a little 100% lavender oil.
Having moisturized and exfoliated skin is not as hard as people think it is. With a few simple products you can have beautiful skin all fall and winter long! And please stay away from using products on your skin with ingredients you can’t even pronounce. Those products will probably dry your skin out and do more harm than good. Take care of your skin everyone!
Stay beautiful ladies!
