We all know the feeling of forgetting to do something. Whether it be forgetting to complete an assignment, attend an event, or simply just forgetting to drink enough water, we have all been there. I have always been pretty good at remembering things I have written down in my planner, but in 2024 I want to use it more effectively.

For starters, you’re going to need a planner. I think that having a cute planner will keep you accountable, so I think it’s well worth the splurge sometimes.

Papier has some super cute journals and planners that I have had my eye on for a while. They have a bunch of different designs, some of which are customizable. I love how there is a planner for everyone on their site, leaving you with no excuse not to have a planner.

Ever since high school I have been loyal to the Day Designer Daily/Monthly planner from Target. It lays the week out in a way that is easy for me to process and write down everything I need to remember.

Digital planners are also a great resource for some. I personally need to have it written down on paper, but there are many digital planners you can find that are compatible with a computer or tablet.

Here are five ways I plan on using my planner in 2024:

Writing down assignments

It is so easy to get caught up in everything that some assignments slip your mind. Writing down all my assignments has allowed me to turn in all of my school work before the due date and has decreased the amount of stress I have over my work. Seeing all my assignments laid out in my planner allows me to plan my week accordingly and get everything done in time.

Deadlines

This is similar to what I said about writing down assignment due dates. Writing down deadlines keeps me on track to do my work in time. This is especially helpful when it comes to Her Campus deadlines. Writing down the two deadlines a month in my planner makes sure I meet them.

Goal setting

I have never really been into setting goals for myself. The planner I currently have has a space at the top of each week to write down your goals. I definitely want to start setting mini goals for myself in the new year to keep myself accountable.

Meeting and event reminders

With so many classes, meetings and events, it is so easy to confuse dates and times. As soon as I find out about a meeting or an event, I write down the date, time and location in my planner so I can be sure to attend. Writing event and meeting reminders for Her Campus is a great way to keep yourself accountable and stay involved.

Checklists

I need a checklist for almost everything I do. Whether it be grocery shopping, an assignment, or just a list of chores I need to complete, a checklist always saves my life. Most planners have a notes section in them where I love to write little checklists for myself throughout the week.

Using my planner has allowed me to hold myself accountable for years, so I really hope to see 2024 being the year of the planner!
